Monoculars

A Monocular is Useful to Have Along
for Unexpected Opportunities

A monocular is a tool that should be readily available any time you are traveling or might otherwise be in a situation in which you need a clearer look at something in the distance. This is particularly true for birders. It is difficult, of course, to envision birds in 3-dimensions using monoculars, which produce views in 2-dimensions. There are many situations in which a binocular would be heavy and clumbsy as it hangs around your neck, an inconvenience when there is no certainty of needing it. A monocular, however, is small and light, ideal for slipping into your pocket. For birders, a monocular is of unique usefulness in that one eye can keep following the bird movements while the other eye is examining the bird characteristics for identy. (This, of course, takes training to do effectively.)
